Hey rice burner,
How cold does your winter usually get? When I was staying near the
souther Oregon border the nights, and some of the days would get below zero. I
ran a multi grade oil, 10/20/40. I carried and used a set of chains made by
honda at that time. A military folding shovel and a come along, a hand
operated winch. I wrapped the battery with some fiber glass insulation to keep
it from freezing and added some rubbing alcohol to the windshield washer bag.
I carried a couple of thick plastic floor mats for regular cars to shove under
the wheels and a half a dozen steaks made out of re bar, and a hammer. All of
these items got me through dirt and paved roads. with or without snow. Always
be vigilant for black ice. Once the engine was warmed up the heater fan, which
I put on a seperate switch kept me very warm as long as the vent flaps were
closed. In winter driving so plan for it to take longer to get to where you
are going. Some one will make an error in judgement and cause a traffic flow
problem. Slow down a bit and enjoy the scenery. Remember that the vehicle
going through the intersecton without its wheels turning has the righ of way.

Quads all use a 10" radial street tire with the tread cut> Just a tip for you living in the cold states if you go to your local Honda
