Does the 600 need lead additive added to the gas? Was it designed to run on

As per page 24 of my sedan owners manual it says "Use Low-lead gasoline with 91 research octane number or higher is recommended. If such gas is not available, you may use a leaded regular grade gasoline.
Does anybody know if the Honda 600 has hardened valve seats or not?

yes they are. But if the Honda 600 had hardened valve seats, then the lead was only needed to boost octane and not to cushion the valves, then 91 octane unleaded would be acceptable

Unleaded has been around for a very long time. Arco has always sold it. Yes, the valve guides and seats are more than up to Unleaded. Drive it on regular or 92 either will do. But it must be tuned, oil changed, and lots of light footed starts to attain the high mileage everyone talks about. Remember, if you run it like a race car, you will fix it like one. And race cars are rebuilt after every race.

I'm a bit late on the reply to your pole and leaded question. Before I
had to tear down my 72 engine, dure to a fragmented oil pump drive, I getting
around 50 mpg at 65mph on long runs. As for leaded fule and the impact on the
engine. When the lead was removed from ground vehicle gasoline I went to the
local Harley Davidson dealership and bought bottles of lead additive. Harley's
have 5 gallon tanks and so does the sedan. Yes there was leaded gas in '72.
As I said everything was fine until the oil pump drive came apart.
