Rotor Removal advice requested

I finally start this attempt of placing life into an old coupe.
I'm at the point now where I need to remove the rotor (to
be able to open the crankcase) The service manual
states a special tool (rotor holder as well as a rotor
removal). Would anyone let me know where the best
place to find such tools or suggest other options in
removing the rotor.
In my work today, I found a good amount of metal in the
oil, I should have expected this since the crankshaft is
toast. Observing the conditions of the Primary Drive parts,
I'm expecting most of the engine components to be
outside of the accepted values. Just wondering what
others have done. Am I being too optimistic to think of
rebuilding engine, should the approach be to get it
running again with no concern to long term life, or should
I just give up now and go back to dreaming of having a
honda?

Just a side note......the metal in the oil that you found could be from the timing chain grinding against the case.

As bad as it may seem, it will only get worse and you may destroy other parts that are still good enough to use.
Advise is easy when you don't have to redo the work.
So, I follow a few simple rules;
    1. Keep the engine case at all costs, the original number engine in your car is worth all the effort.
    2. Junk the bad crank shaft.
    3. clean everything, everything.  Aluminum chips are in everything, so this means that you will have to pull everything apart.  If you think you have steel chips ground up, then use a magnet to check.  I would replace all chains, pull the transmission shift plate and all the shafts apart and clean everything.
Special note is the large ball bearings at the ends of the primary and secondary transmission shafts can look ok, flush them to see if any chips got in.  If yours are warn, find others.
    4. check tolerances (the two shop manuals) are available on line if you don't have them.  And, you will need both.
    5. How much will this cost you?  A whole bunch of time, and some cash.  If you can, find a pulled engine for parts if you don't already have one.  But your Honda 600 is well worth the effort.
