I would say that at the low end, cars are not much more money now:
1971 Federal minimum wage
$1.60/hr.....Honda $1,700....1063 hours at min wage 1971 Federal minimum wage $1.60/hr.....Pinto $2,190....1369 hours at min wage
2011 Federal minimum wage $7.25/hr.....Hyundai Accent $9,985 ...1378 hours at min wage
That, and the engineering and features in the low-end Hyundai beats anything from the early '70s by a lot.
I'm still keeping my 600 though!
