That may be true, and it is not just this site I am speaking of. There were people selling vinyl tubing to be used with brake fluid that was made for water. The seals pictured are not directional and there is no mention of the material they are made of. If it were a substantiated company such as Beck Arnley or WIX there would be no hesitation and I would agree.
But who knows? Oh they may run for a while but why would Honda make them directional if it didn't have to? And, if the O rings are made of Natural Rubber they will swell when used with oil and there will be leaks.
Anyone can take an old O ring and the application into a manufacturer and get qualified and professional assistance as to the product they need, and although they may not be able to sell you the part. Normally they will tell you who in your area has them or can order them.
