where are the tires made?

Post by zinc2u »

Click here to see some info on how to determine where (and what mfg) makes your tire.
Looks like Vredestein makes their tires in the Netherlands (where they are based) but I would need to see the DOT code on the side of the tire to verify.   Their website gives the specifications on their tires.
Kingstire appears to be a Taiwan-based company with their tires being made in China.  This info comes from their website.
So,  are they both made in China or is Vredestein made in Europe and Kingstire made in China?   You won't know until you look at the DOT code on the side of the tire.
Happy motoring in your 600,
Dale

How important is the country of manufacture, with respect to tire quality? There are lots of products made in China nowadays -- too many some might argue -- but there are many that are made to high quality specs.
I don't want to misplace my faith, but my guess is that Coker Tire, a company with a pretty solid reputation from what I understand, would be unlikely to sell a tire of substandard quality. My guess, anyway.

I have both tires, Vredersteins and Kings Tire, sure the Vredersteins German name gives it some spunk (marketed to VWs), whereas the Kingstire is really marketing to Minis, however, there is very little difference and I don't believe there's any significant difference given the amount of HP and use these cars normally have.
I guess they areChinesemade, just like iPads, iPhones and many many very well made great quality products that are sold by reputable vendors Coker Tire where I have bought both sets.

Richard the Verderstein's are actually Dutch tires. One of the problems I have had with their tires is that they wear out quickly. They are a good tire and hold the road well in wet weather but they do not last as long as some of their competitors. I have not used them on a Honda but on my other cars.

Looking at the latest tire sales in Hemmings Motor News, there are 2" wide white walls 480-10 made by BF Goodrich tires for $133.00 each and they need tubes.  Vredestein has the 145R-10 Sprint Classic for $87.00 and it is a black wall.  While Dunlop has a 145SR10 for $165.00 and a 165/70SR-10 for $175.00 each.   And JC Whitney is listing some high speed trailer tires that are going in the $70.00 range.
