Fuel Door Latch Spring

Group, I really appreciate the information that is shared here. I would
like to know how the small long spring on top of the fuel filler door
latch knob pin is secured in its slot. I know one end catches on the key
on the latch knob pin, but what keep the spring inside the door post
(part # 18 on page 2-2)?

I have several parts for N600, and would love to get rid of everything, or else Ill have to toss everything.
