I installed a standard MSD 6AL Capacitive Discharge electronic ignition system (with an HD Sport coil) which has been working great.
It did make a HUGE difference particularly with start-up which is now instantaneous even when cold. In addition the points seem to last forever and the plugs stay clean and clear.
The control box neatly mounts behind the battery (requires deleting the two speed fan resistor) and I opted to relocate the coil to the dashpanel below the cowl to clean up the "rad" support.
So far, I'd recommend giving it a try-- worked for me.

I respectfully disagree.  A well adjusted Honda 600 motor with correct point and plug gaps, properly functioning - breaker plate, coil, coil wires and carb will keep it running properly.  Electronic Ignition will not fix the other worn parts.

I have a pertronix igniter that is on a 600 advance plate. Its 1/2 the issue, the other piece to this is on the rotor. It has to be machined in order to mount the round piece that I think contains the magnets.
I only have one and I did a rough estimate of what I would need to get and if the pertronix igniter is used, it would end up being about $175. BUT, the system you really want is the pertronix igniter II (protected against you wiring it wrong and some other things) of course its more expensive, but if I was to make this, I would have to use the version 2 since I dont want to deal with someone blowing up the module and saying it was my fault.
I have 2 MSD 6AL boxes, how do you wire them up for the 600s?
P.s. on my website, you can scroll through the pictures I put on there and you will see that I use Accel super coil as my coil. It has 2 outputs and has the hottest spark of any coil you can get. Its like 80,000volts or more, (I am old and forget). It also had a gigantic effect on the engine starting and I havent had any high RPM miss since I put it on. I put it right where the old coil was (see picture).

I remember in the "'80's way back" Miroslav (Mike) Kefurt of the Honda Car Club in North Hollywood
offered performance items which included a 1 piece front clip, racing clutch disc, rear disc
brake kit. A few years back I contracted with Arias Pistons to make me the exact J&J pistons
kit using drawings & photos I supplied (no way I am releasing my only set) but what they sent me was nothing
like my specs. I think they were 75.5mm and I had Steve Allen make me matching head gaskets.
