The oil that you mention, shock oil, is that something that I can buy at my local NAPA or other part store?  If I were to go with a heavy oil, would that be a standard oil or just a heavier shock oil?  As always, thanks for the help, don't know if I would ever get this car out on the road if it were not for the advice I get in here.

Hi Miles;
What is the standard shock oil? what is heavier weight? I have a set
of used Koni's for a Coupe, spoke to the folks at Koni and to have them
rebuilt. Their price will be about $150.00 each with shipping.
Not bad if you really need them.

I think the std for shock oil is 10 weight, can't use motor oil as it
will foam up. 20 weight would be heavier. Buy it at a motorcycle
shop. We ised to use ATF in the forks we rebuilt at the motorcycle
shop I worked at, like Dexron ATF. If you can get a copy of the
Import Cars book from 1971, there is an article about the shock oils.

Any decent motorcycle shop has various wieght oils for rebuilding
motorcycle suspensions.These oils are the same used in struts and
shocks.Also you can use ATF,its weight is 7.2W
