You might be hearing crankshaft noise, how many miles are on the engine? when you rotate the engine forward is there a slight hestation in the movement of the camshaft at any time?

Oh ya, I have 71,000 original miles. The sound isn't really
continueous, it goes away sometimes. I have to readjust my valve,
because I didn't have the spec and I set them a few .000 to loose,
hopefully that will cure it. Thanks,
