Dash lights

[GRINDKILL]

Can someone tell me how to remove the speedo, and idiot light cluster
so that I can put in a brighter bulb? I can barely see the speedo
numbers at night. All help is appreciated.

The gauges are held in by metal spring clips. The gauges push through
the front of the dash. I use a screwdriver to pry under the gauge,
one side then the other, they pop right out.

I removed the dash and want to replace all the bulbs.
The only numbers on the bulb is:
* Stanley 12V 3WL OE (8x)
* Stanley 12V 2W MT (1x)
Anybody have a part number or supplier?

Brad, I looked at the parts book, good idea.
Pretty sure this is correct.
The 34902-259-000 (12v 3.4w)bulb fits the:
*Tach
*PK-B
*CHG
*Fuel
*Speedo
*High beam
*L-Turn Signal
*R-Turn Signal
*Seat belt warning
The 12v 2w MT bulb has no part number, it fits:
*Brake warning light
Total 10 bulbs.
I will do a search like you did.

The gauges pry out from the front. I use a small brad remover or a screwdriver. Care should be taken to not gouge the dash or sides of gauges.

I have my dash out right now. Like Miles said, they come out the front. The problem is the spring clips that hold the gauge in gets surface rust on them, making it hard to remove. The clips have a raised bump on them to keep the gauge tight. You could take 1/8 x 1/2 flat stock from Home depot, grind an angle on it and bend to make a little pry bar, make 2. Wrap a little tape around the part that touches the dash. Put some grease on the clips when you put them back.

Dont forget to clean the lens when you have the gauge out.
Remove the 4 small phylips screws that hold the spring clips in.
Pull the plastic face off and clean up.
Sand/polish the spring clips and grease.

And, if you have the gauge out, pop off the lens, and paint the pointer/hand on the dial.  Really simple to do.  Tape off the center (cut as necessary) use a sheet of paper (cut to the center) and put it under the pointer.  I like the florescent or hot orange in the model spray can.  These small can's hold just enough to do the job and now your dials look like new.

Easy first step, removed and inspect the condition of bulbs. With them out of the meters, but still attached to the harness, ground them one by one.  They should all have the same brightness. 2. Check the gauge ground wire for corrosion and tightness. 3. I may be wrong, but I believe the bulb socket has its own connection to the wire harness. Again check for corrosion and tightness. Yes, the inside of the meter can get "foggy", but all should be about the same. So, start with the bulb, socket and wiring. Best wishes
