New (to me) 1970 Honda 600, 1972 Honda 600

Hi All-
I am new to the list, as I am a new Honda 600(2) owner. My wife had a
1971 all through High School, but we had to get rid of it to make
room in our garage. Then, of course, we bought a house and now have
plenty of room.
I found a 1970 600 on Ebay for $600, and with it you got a 1972 600
for parts.
My question is, how much technical ability should I have before I
start this project? I have the original Shop manual for both cars,
but they are in need of serious work. Both these cars also are in
need of alot of parts, and I am not sure if they widely available.
I live in the San Francisco, ca, bay area.
I was hoping to tear down the '70, and built it back up from the
ground using parts from the '72 (if available), or buy them. Just
wondering if this is plan is the best way to go about it.
Any suggestions?

 Welcome to the group, you are in the perfect state to have a basket case.
There are a bunch of great guys there that will be happy to help you with

My name is Mike Scott. I live in Livermore, CA, which is about 45 mins east of San Francisco. I found this group through www.600miles.com . The guy I bought the cars from recommended the site, as the owner / creator is actually about 60 mins drive from where I live.
So far I have found a great deal of information, and my wife and I are excited to get the cars running. They have quite alot of work needed, but we have plenty of time.
