Going uphill in Honda 600s

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone who lives in So Cal have taken their Honda
600's up the steep 15, 14, 101, 210, and 5 freeways or any other
places where it is very steep? I was just wondering because maybe one
day I will get a Honda 600 and probably want go around those areas. I
also wouldn't expect going up too fast either. I'm just
curious of how these cars behave at higher elevations, and I think
it would look rather funny having one of these cars off-road
somewhere in Hesperia or somewhere similar and be able to go off-
road :-).

I've taken my 71 AN600 on the 101 at teh cahuenga pass, but traffic
there is typically sub 15 mph so I suppose that doesnt count!

I have driven 2 of my Honda 600's to San Diego from San Jose Calif.
When I hit about the middle of the Grapevine going South, I could
only sustain about 30 mph. That was with just me in the car. The
second time & different 600 and 2 people it seems I went Hiway 101
the whole way and the hill wasn't as bad. My best advice is stay to
the right!
Now living in Santa Cruz Mtns and drive to San Jose alot over back
roads and Hiway 17, typical speed is 45 to 50 mph.

Hi apple2guru,
I couldn't help but smile, It seems as though all of the SoCal
freeways have a max speed of 35mph due to congestion. It doesn't
matter what you drive! I live in Simi Valley and often drive the
118 over the hill into the San Fernando Valley with no problem(55
mph). I use to drive the freeways all the time in my '72N600 but
lately I take the backroads. The weight of other vehicles and the
aggresive way in which they are driven is just too scary. BTW I had
a left front blow out on the 118 last summer on my way to Palm
Springs, but that is another story.

Yea know, San Diego really is congested these days. Driving a Honda 600 is
not that bad and freeway speeds are not all that slow (if you stay away from
peak hours) I normally do 65 all the time with out a worry. Then again I
ran them with an oil cooler to help with the heat down here. And, many of
the Honda 600's (Coupes and Sedans) who have coolers on their cars have been
running for many years. Talk to Harry Lineback, he has had a oil cooler on
his car since 1991 and it is still running strong.
