Where to buy wheel cylinders/shoes for rear drums?

Hi folks, I have some massive leaks in my coupe and I'm not sure
where to purchase wheel cylinders and new shoes... anyone know of a
reputable source? Am I eliminating typical parts stores too soon (Is
Kragen even worth calling)? Sorry if this has been covered already --
nothing is coming up in the search.

Hi Mike;
When you speak of cylinders I am assuming your talking about the rear wheel
cylinders on the Coupe. There are some kits available, but not many.
Normally the cylinder is corroded to the point of needing replacement or
having it resleeved. Brass is the best as your cylinders are aluminum.
Sierra Specialty Automotive at www.brakecylinder.com is a shop I use quite a
bit with very good results every time. At $50.00 a cylinder it really is
not all that bad either. Then it comes to rebuilding the internal parts.
As I said earlier the kits are hard to come by. Miles has had some in the
past and may be able to help you. But if you can't get the proper seals all
is not lost. If you go to the ANZhonda600owners group page, and into the
photo album section there is a Folder labeled "Rear Wheel Cylinder Fix".
There it shows the alternative route to the Honda seals. The cups can be
purchased at any brake shop and they come in all sizes. And normally the
staff will be more than happy to show you which is the best fit. They will
also be the folks that can reline your shoes, or know where to have them
relined.
Just remember, this is a 30+ year old car your working on and things will
take time to get right.

For you Coupe owners who have 5/8" wheel cylinders- I have a jig for
my lathe and I bore them out and hone to 11/16" and rebuild them for
$45.00 which will save you money on the pair. Upgrading them to
11/16" means you can easily get the rebuild kits if you ever need to
and you can still get them sleeved in another 10 years if you ever
needed to.
For you Sedan and Coupe owners with 11/16" wheel cylinders I would
agree with Bill and get them sleeved at Sierra Specialty, though for
a couple bucks more I can do them for you and you don't have to
rebuild them yourself. I send them to Sierra and then get the pistons
gold zinc plated, I install new seals & new dust boots and supply 2ea
new nuts & split lock washer. I don't actually make a penny on them
at $65.50ea exchange.
I also do brake master cylinders for $195.ooea exchange and am now
doing calipers for $125ea exchange also.
