71 N600 for trade

Post by fordfocusracer2001 »

Hello all...
I'm interested in trading my 71 AN600 project for a neat old tractor.
The N600 is currently in the process of an engine swap to a Honda 1200
and 5 spd trans. Body has no rust, and only minimal dings.
Engine/trans are in place, but it still needs axles/exhaust to be
finished. LOTS of extra parts!
I'll be happy to give more details to anyone interested in trading for
any old tractors, preferably Farmall or John Deere. I'll handle
delivery/pick up!
Thanks!

Would you send me a few photos that I can post to another group?
Thanks,

Michael,
what a fantastic project. A couple of questions come to mind: where did you find the Honda 1200 motor-trans? Has this ever been done before?
How will you connect up the steering and drive axles?
Please submit photos of your work in progress, and lots of parts.
Thanks, Marshall jpro8071 wrote:

Hi Marshall,
I bought the motor several years ago.  It's never been started since it's rebuild.  A balanced and blueprinted motor with 13.5:1 compression, hot cam, lightened flywheel and ported head.  Nothing special about the transmission other than a racing (grabber) clutch.  I've never heard of this exact motor swap being done.  I saw once a Mazda 1500 motor swap into an N600.  I also have a photo of a highly modified N600 with a big block V8 (pictures of the car, not the motor) and I have a photo of another highly mod'ed Z with big slicks on the back and a wheelie bar, very nicely done too.
Again, pics of the car only and not the motor.
Anyway....  I thought that keeping the car all Honda would be the best way to go, plus keeping the external look pretty much original.  The steering will use the same, existing components as well as the brakes.  As for the axles, I have a set of Civic axles that I plan to cut/weld to the original 600 axles to preserve the original wheels/suspension.  I know that's a somewhat questionable setup, but I expect it will work.
I'm using a radiator from a Honda Goldwing with an electric fan which will allow the radiator to stay up front.  I have a Weber 32/36 DGEV carb.
I have a new S&S header for the exhaust.  I also have a fiberglass dash that is originally designed to fit a VW Bug, but is a perfect height/width match to the N600 and allows holes for the gauges to be placed how desired.  I haven't removed any of the original dash yet though.
As for extra parts, I have almost another whole car.  I bought another N600 that had a kinda rough body and stripped pretty much anything that would come apart that was worth saving.
Any interest in the car?  Make an offer!
You'll see in the photos that the engine bay is a little rough looking.  It currently has a dummy/gutted transmission that I used for placement only.  I still have to pull the motor/trans again to clean up the engine area and paint before the final install.
Thanks for writing!

Hi Eric,
What group do you want to post these photos to?  I'd like to see what else they have.  Post that it's for sale as well!

You can post them right here. We won't worry if a little electricity is wasted in  transmission/reception of your pics... I'd like more pictures! Marshall michaelshort@...

"modmicros" - not much activity there, but there is at least one swap
in the photos.
