more legroom?

Post by mterrens »

Speaking of fitting in a 600, has anyone ever attempted to reconfigure the driver and/or passenger seat brackets to allow for more legroom?  I know this means that no one fits in back.

I am sure this is one of the priority items I want to try.  I had to deal with a modification a previous owner did to a AZ600.  the front and rear mounts for the front seat were hammered to the floor and a plastic racing seat was put in its place.  Yep, right on the floor and tipped back to allow for better leg room from a person in the 6' 6" range.  All the mounts had to be welded back on and new seats found to put the car back in proper condition.  A better way would have been to modify the seats by bolting L brackets to the original mounts and then mount the original seats all the way back.  The original mountings are crash tested to sustain a specific amount of impact during construction.  To modify this will change the safety capabilities of the car during impact.  Yea, and how many of the people who get in wrecks daily plan on this when they get into their cars.  If you don't fit, you better look for another car.

I heard of a Korean Pro Wrestler that drove a 600. He took the driver's seat out and sat in the back. When I owned my 600 coupe, my boss was 6'7" and could sit in the car. He just couldn't touch any of the pedals.
