Since I was the one who mentioned "reinventing the
wheel", let me add that 2nd gen toyota 4 cyl (22re)
came with FI, so it would probably be an easier swap
to go with that hardware; just curious about the
"megasquirt". Matt was the one who wanted to convert
the 600; but then again, you can only do so much with
600 cc.

Hi Matt,
sorry about the late reply on this one - been off the list and very
busy for a while.
I converted a '71 Coupe to fuel injection a few years ago. I posted
some pictures in the photo section under "Fuel Injection" - one photo
shows the current configuration with the throttle body out of a Geo
and a single injector. The other photo is the first setup we ran - a
TBI off a '80s Chevy Cavalier, to the left is the loom to give you an
idea of what a project this is. The TBI ran very inefficient - full
throttle was like 10% utilization, so it was hard to meter. The
single injector is nice because you can select the size you want. But
I'm paranoid that I might not have it centered exactly where it should be.
I'm using the Electromotive WinTec3 system. It's a really nice
system, but pretty expensive when you are talking about a car like the
600. I was lucky enough to get a sponsor that gave me a deal on the
system. If I didn't have that help I would have seriously considered
the MegaSquirt system. The Megasquirt takes fewer wires and is much
cheaper. But the WinTec system has finer calibration and many more
features. I plan on running one on any car I race or seriously modify.
Whatever you do, you'll need something where you can tweak the power
curve (and hopefully the ignition curve.) It will be very hard to
adapt something OEM off of another make or model of car. Plus you'll
need to figure out ignition timing/sensors. And a fuel return line, etc..
The nice thing is that the manuals for both the WinTec and Megasquirt
can be found online - so you can read up on the installation and see
if it's something you want to take on.

beginning to think it's possible to convert one of these engines to
run on fuel injection, which might add more power as well as better
fuel economy.
> My thinking is that we can do this using the EFI system from the
88-91 Civic DX/LX cars. It's a Dual Point Fuel Injection System, but
in reality it just uses one injector. It has been described as a
"glorified carb" on more than one occassion.

air intake temperature sensors, and of course the number of wires
specifically for the distributor that will not be used at all.
