Took my 600 out for another spin today, tuned it up even more, still
seems like its running rich, but got me around fine. What are the
average rpm ranges that i should be seeing for each gear? seems like i
was driving in the 4-4.5k range most of the time. Also im wondering
how reliable the 600 is going to be if i drive it 60 miles a day to
and from work. thanks! Kris
driving rpm average?
Re: driving rpm average?
Hi Kris;
4.5 K is ok for side streets, I normally do a 5.5K on the freeways in each
gear. RPM's are the only think keeping this thing going. To keep it
running at free way speeds change the oil every three months. If your
running it on both then you will want to think about an Oil Cooler setup.
Freeways seem to keep the engine running at a normal temp. 165- to- 190.
It's coming off the freeway that sends the temp way up.
The oil Cooler helps keep it running a whole bunch cooler.

Re: driving rpm average?
I used to drive my 600 coupe 97 miles each way to work. It did just fine until I let the drive line boot crack and it popped. I didn't go at all then. Be sure to keep the boots in good shape (no cracks) and full of the correct grease. Learn from my mistake...

Re: driving rpm average?
Also, keep the fins around the engine barrels clean.
I once had a sedan which had a pin hole leak at the back of the engine by the cam chain tensioner. I used GUNK to clean up the engine and the grime which had caked onto the engine had plugged the pin hole leak. Once the engine was clean, my pin hole leak sent a mist of oil into the fan assembly. It created a mess.
