Right Side Cover bolt won't go back in

I was playing about with the speedometer cable today, and I
accidentally removed the bolt closest to the cable. The Coupe Manual
(page 72) identifies it as part of the Right Side Cover. See

picture of the bolt location.
Problem is I cannot get the bolt back in. It just won't thread.
What can I do? Can I drive it while I figure out a solution?

Javier,
Don't drive it. If you look in your picture Item #1 has an indent in
it where the bolt locates. You can pull the whole drive unit out of
the case then align the hole and reinstall the bolt. If you were to
drive it, the housing could pop out and the drive gear might get
mangled between the housing and the drive gear of the countershaft.

Hi Miles, thanks for the response.
I see Item #1 has an indent for the bolt. How do I go about removing
it so I can align it? It moves left and right with force from pliers,
but I didn't want to force it. Also I don't see the ring or nut above
the #1 item on the car.

The smaller circle in the picture is actually the oil seal, you won't
see it unless you look into the hole. The drive for the speedo gear
protrudes through it. The other part is the O ring that will be
inside of the case, you won't see it either unless you pull out the
whole part. You can thread the speedo cable on, then pull out the
alum. piece complete. Find the recess then shove the whole assembly
back in.

The speedo  has an o-ring on it.  Keep wiggling it and give it some upward pressure.  It will come out.
