Needing info again. Is there a crossover for the sedan muffler? Mine
has a big hole in it and quite noisy. It's running pretty good but I don't
have much stopping power. All lines are open and can bleed front and
booster but can't get fluid to rear wheels. The MC shot fluid a foot or two
in the air from both places. I have a little pedal and front brakes work
somewhat with a very hard pedal. Anyone have any ideas. It will be ready
to go to inspection station with brakes and muffler.
Then I'll be On the Road Again...................... Thanks for any and

I've noticed the Dot 3 brake fluid in the brake lines after 30 years in a car which has sat for
a long period of time turns into a substance that looks like dried rubber cement. I have had to
take a wire and run it through the lines to clear them out and open it up so the fluid can flow.
Are you getting any fluid flowing in the lines before they attach to the rear brake cylinders?
The wire I used was a guitar string since it is strong and flexible.
Have you disassembled your rear brake cylinders and cleaned/inspected them? It sounds like your front calipers may need to be disassembled,cleaned, and inspected. Both the rear brake cylinders and front calipers should have clean smooth surfaces which are free of major pits and corrosion.

Miles really has all the answers when it comes to the brakes. As to the muffler, glass packs are very noisy but seem to be the choice of muffler by many shops. I would look for a small muffler also known as a resonator on many larger 50's vehicles. The trouble with most of the mufflers made today is that they are trying to quiet the exhaust after it leaves the CAT and without losing power. So there is not much dampening in them. The old 50's and 60's Cadillac's used resonators to quiet 15 feet of pipe, and they did quite well. Midas seemed to have them a few years back. You might try them.
