4 good runs in Bonneville.

Well, it finally happened, we got the J/Pro record at Bonneville up
over 100 mph. First run was 104.3 on 700cc and gas - air density was
like 7500'. The back up run the next morning made for a two-way
average of 103.978.
The crew chief made two runs as J/GALT (Gas Altered - we added an air
dam and covered the grill) - he did 106+ on both runs.
It was a busy and difficult week. I want to thank the various honda
supporters that have put lots of effort into making tools, parts and
knowledge available. Couldn't have done it with out you.
(My sponsor, Engine Dynamics went above and beyond in making this
happen also - but this isn't the place to talk about them - they are a
specialty shop if anything.)

Well done
I to was at Bonneville with part of the New Zealand continent
with the guy who drove the modified roadster 8880 who has no legs. He
ran his modified roadster first time up at 182 mph. Now bear this in
mind, this guy is driving with one hand on the wheel and the other is
brake and throttle,and I guess his heart in his mouth most of the time.
Not for the faint hearted I would suggest. Im very sorry I did not see
you guys there,we ran the short special course a couple of times and
then the short course and on the morning of the long course, that
dammed wind kicked in and that was it for us, it was all over for this
year. But the salt has bitten us and we will be back. That place is so

Wow! Nice work breaking that 100 mph mark! They should have a 100mph
club for the "j" engine class guys.
Are you still running 10" rims? Is your gearing still stock?

Hi Eric,
What have done to get it up over 100 mph? Have you changed the gearing or do you wind the motor up to a higher RPM?

The EFI (electromotive) with a crank sensor lets us wind the snot out
of the car . . .

LOL, what kind of RPM is it pulling when you get it up to 100 mph? The “new” article that Steve has at his site mentioned the engine is already at 6,000 RPM @ 70 MPH.

How often do you replace/rebuild the engine? I have trouble believing that the little 600 engine can handle that for long. ;o)

I think in 7 years I've built it 3 times. We had one crank finally
die on us, but beyond that (knock on wood) it's held up pretty darn
well. (If you don't run alcohol . . . )
