My '72 AZ600 was starting and running a week ago and now I can't seem to make it start although itr cranks. Have read from the email threads about similar problems which might concern clogged fuel lines or problems with the carburetor. I don't have the faintest idea as I am not even an amateur mechanic. I would greatly appreciate any recommendation If you or you know of someone within a radius of 100 miles from Concord, CA (so I can have the car towed to the location) who could fix this problem and an approximate of how much it would cost.

Alex; pull a plug and lay it against the head and see if you are getting spark as you crank the motor, if so pull the fuel line off the carb and turn the key on with out trying to start the car, it has a electric fuel pump so it will pump fuel up with out trying to start the car, if your fuel pump is working and your getting spark it could be several things so, it my be time to get a mechanic involved to do more in-depth checks.

The plugs I was running in that car were Nippondenso and not NGK but I did not think the spark plugs were really the problem. It turns out the high voltage out of the ignition was on the weak side and that was the real problem and the energy from the ignition was not sufficient to break through any oxidation which had formed on the plug tips.

Sounds like you jumped timing, very common. Do you know how to turn
the car off? Before you crank it anymore, remove both plugs and
rotate the engine by hand a couple times with a 17mm wrench on the
crank pulley.
If you feel resistance with the plugs out then you are clashing a
valve into a piston. If this is it then remove the valve cover and
check the timing, if the timing is off you might get lucky, but
doubtful and you can move the chain back. Check the cam sprocket for
broken teeth and check the slack on the chain.
I am in Santa Cruz Mtns, I could come to you to see what's going on,
but if it needs major work then I would request you bring the car to
me.

sounds like points and condensor, are you getting a spark? check this by pulling off one spark plug wire , sticking a screw driver in it hold the handle of the screw driver one eighth inch to the engine block, and have some-one crank the car. You should have a spark jumping off the screwdriver to the block. this means you do or do not have fire. careful not to shock yourself

My 600 is now starting right up and the engine runs smoother. Thanks a lot Miles and I am sure there are a lot of other folks like me who have benefited well from your expertise and services.
