heat exchanger - rubber coating

Hi Guys,
I am looking for a way to rubber coat the heat exchanger in my car.
I had stripped off the old peeling rubber, sanded and primer-ed it with high temp black spray paint.
I was told to try using truck bed lining, but the product's warning label tells me to avoid heat. I am hesitant to proceed..
And lastly, do I really need the rubber coating?

You don't need the rubber coating, it's a sound deadener. Those heater boxes are pretty loud. Secondly moisture is trapped beneath the coating and the exchanger rots out. Thirdly, it doesn't get that hot, you could probably use undercoating or bed liner. I bet the temperature of the sun abssorbing into a truck bed is twice as hot as your heat exchanger gets.

hi everyone-- sorry to ask a non-600 question on this forum and i apologize in advance to those it may offend, but i really need the help of ALL honda experts on this one-- i have a 1978 civic (2 door hatchback with the 1.2 liter engine and 5-speed manual) and i need a fuel tank for it--the original is rotted beyond repair-does anyone know where i can go to get a good replacement?

try the auto junk yards for cars.  most of them are tied together by the internet and most likely be able to find one.  You can attempt to fix it or send it to where they fix gas tanks but doing that is expensive. I had mine done by http://www.gas-tank.com/  it was a little more than $200 if I remember right.

thanks, tom--very helpful--the junkyards i've found have the same fuel tank i posess--rusty--i may have to get it repaired at the place you suggested, if i don't get any other leads-- paige
