There was actually 2 different late model carbs. Late model meaning the KeiHin with the aluminum dome. 718A and 718B. The differences are explained in one of the service bulletins. Those numbers are stamped on the top near the air intake. I prefer the earlier A version. The B version had a plugged air port, but maybe it really didn't make a difference in performance but I remember sending back a carb to Honda because my car seemed anemic with the B carb.

I remember that service bulletin. Actually, I wrote it, took the pictures, did the art work, layout etc, etc. The problem with some of the "A' carbs was a flat spot around 4-4,500. They pluged the float bowl vent and changed one of the jets. Had not heard of a "B" carb until yesterday! Anyway, an "A" with the plug and 150 jet should be virtually the same as the "B".
Looked at all the 600 sevice bulletins today. Had forgotten some, remembered others. That was to be expected after 40 years. We were establishing the whole automobile service dept, one day and one problem at a time. There were only four or five of us to cover the service school, warranty dept., tech materials and keep track of the field reps. I would imagine the staff today totals in the 100s. WOW!
