Stainless Steel Shim Stock 0.001 in thick

I purchased some Stainless Steel Shim Stock 0.001 inch thick to repair my points/vacuum advance assembly per Bill Colfords great instructions.  Fix work as advertised!  However, I was only able to purchase some via Amazon and have enough for about 1000 assembly fixes!  So, if you are looking for some, let me know and I will cut off a strip for cheap!

Dang, should have taken pics. �Bill has a powerpoint which is very detailed. �I was not able to get the shim entirely full circle, but it made a huge difference. �Before the advance did not work at all, like it was frozen. �After spending a few hours jamming the shim into place, she turns smooth as glass.
Cleaning and new grease always helps!

Anyone have any secrets for getting the back rubber seal on the piston of the master cylinder?

i had to just stretch mine.  used some brake fluid as lubricant and just stretched it as softly as possible.   if theres a better way id love to hear it as well.

Brakes are a real touchy subject.  And when I can't or couldn't find someone with new units I would rebuild them using the proper kits.  If a Honda 600 master cylinder is leaking by one of it's seals there is most likely more than one reason.  If the bore is smooth then something caused the seal to loose it's seal.  You know what the polishing rag looks like after you polish your chrome or aluminum door handles on the sedan, that black sooty stuff that darkens the rag.
Well when you see your DOT3 brake fluid turning dark it's because the seals have been polishing the insides of your master cylinder.  All that sooty stuff is causing the seals to abrade over time and they leak.  There are most likely lots of shops out there that can do the job, but the ones I use is White Post Restorations (White Post Restorations [wpost@...] or www.whitepost.com ) are they the cheapest shop on the block?  I don't know, they do have a warrantee that does not quit and they stand by their work.  Brass Sleeve and new seals, rebuilt to factory specs.
If you like to take the risk that's ok, but think of the guy your going to bump into.

I've installed hundreds of those seals :-)  Thoroughly lube the piston and seal with brake assembly lube and force it over the end of the piston it goes on. Do it at an angle and straighten it all out once on the piston.
