Cylinder Barrel and a Starter Pinon needed

Post by forumadmin »

Hi; I'm new to this group, but I'm not new to being a Honda Z600
owner!. I've had my '72 z600 coupe since April of 1983... Its been
under a blanket in the garage since 1986 though, and I am just now
seriously working on it to make it roadworthy again.
Two questions:
1) Does anybody out there have a starter pinion gear? When I had my
starter rebuilt back in 1983, the rebuilder put the wrong size on it
(and lost my original)and it has never been quite right... I talked
with Mike O'Connor the other day, and he doesn't have any (in fact,
needs four of them himself).
2) The slot in the top of the cylinder barrel where the cam slipper
pin sits in is all worn - the pin slops around a lot front to rear.-
nearly a 1/4 inch I would guess. What would be the reccomended way
to fix this? It has even gouged the bottom of the head a bit.. The
bottom pin slot is in pretty good shape (and its a new cam slipper)
Thanks,
Bill Stickle
