There is a misperception about spark plug cleaning. A lot of shade-tree
mechanics make the mistake of using carb cleaner and a wire brush to clean
them up. Even raw gas is not the best. The best way is to get one of the
compressed air spark plug sand blasting tools. It cleans them up great and
keeps them dry. The difference between your old plugs and the new ones you
replaced them with was most likely that they were dry. I say this not to
pick at your comment because it was right on the mark, but for the situation
that we already had new plugs in when it wouldn't start, I too have had the
wet plug problem, and a quick sand blasting has done the trick.
