Brake fluid & moisture

Post by riceburner006 »

Bill, what do you think about the H-600 M/C resevouir,as far as being
very vulnernable to moisture Vs. the more modern cars having a
rubber bladder preventing the absorbtion of water vapour? I often
wondered why the cars back then all used similar set-ups. If you
were living,let's say in California,there wouldn,t be a problem,But
Florida! it can get damp! (Since the M/C cap is vented).

First of all, all DOT 3 and/or 4 brake fluid absorbs moisture. The best
bet is to just change the brake fluid once a year and be done with it. Or
change it out to DOT-5 fluid.
