1972 AZ600 Coupe - steering has *alot* of play. It tracks good,
alignment is ok, wheels are balanced, but there is about 1/6 to 1/5
turn [in the steering wheel] of play. Any one experienced this
before? I got the car like this so I do not know how gradually or
suddenly this came on.
Any info/hints are appreciated.

If you will go to the Files section of the Group Page
(anzhonda600owners) you will see a how-to-repair your Rack article. I speak
of using a cloth type tape to wrap the bushings in the article and have
since learned that others are using PVC pipe to cover the bushing. Both are
to replace the Rubber only and not the metal part of the bushing.
The article also tells you how to remove the rack without losing your
alignment and do little more than removing your front tires to have enough
room to do the job. No one should be driving a loose steering system.
