how much does a 598cc motor weigh?

I was wondering what this motor weighs, and can two people pull it
out without a "cherry picker"?

 You don't pull it, you have to lift the car and drop it the motor.

My comment is why a cherry picker, the motor drops out the bottom with a couple of bolts I then pick up the front end and slide out the motor from under the body.

Bill C illustrates this in the photos section here - he tied rope to the bumper supports.  Others (including myself) just jack up the two sides - it's high enough to pull the motor out once it's on the ground.  Remove the bit of the body that's held on by four screws, that sits down low in the front, below the bumper (the fascia?) to prevent it getting banged up.  Guide the engine down as you lower it, or it may tip around and bang into things on the way down.
Oh and the whole thing with the subframe and axles is about 300 pounds.

I guess a more correct answer is, seeing as you have to remove the brakes (see the photos - to avoid un-doing the brake lines) you need to raise the car up first, one way or another.  It's easier to access all the things you need to detach with it up high as well.

As shown on the Home page of this group the engine/trans with starter comes
to about 273 pounds.

You are correct!  Some of the books say lifting the car and dropping the engine and sub frame is one way of doing it.  It precludes having to use something above the car.   I didn't have a jack that could lift the whole car high enough to allow the power assembly to move freely from under the body.   Lifting the body off the assembly was easier for my setup.  And, by placing a 4X4 wood block at the front of the sub frame (rear of the Jack) and the saddle of the jack on the rear sub frame it allowed me to safely tip forward or backward the whole assembly.  Most come out in 30 minutes or so either way.   And a cherry-picker would work well to lift the body off the sub frame.  I do it with a 2 ton come-a-long.  Which allows me to lower the car back down onto jack stands with out taking the engine/sub frame off my jack.
Once all the weight is removed from the front of the car it can be picked up by two men if there was something to hold onto that wouldn't wrinkle the body.  You should make a check list to ensure you have all the wires, bolts and such off the engine/sub frame before pulling it.

If you have other things wired, plugged or attached to the engine then the list could go on.  But this should get the job done.  Manys the time when I found a wire pulled apart because I didn't take it off in the first place.   You know, the older you are the more stuff you store in your memory making it hard to access details of the past few minutes.

Yep, if your removing a Coupe Motor or have the tach drive on your Sedan
then the tach cable is a must remove. Also early and late Sedans have
different ducting to be removed and if you have a Hawaiian your Heater may
be the Very early double air ducts with a slide cup on the back of the fan
housing. in which case there is a rod that has to be removed.
But, what is necessary is to make sure everything is off before lifting the
body off or lowering he engine from its perch.
