Speaking of insurance.... I know this is an evil word but increased value helps to keep your insurance company from totaling the Honda 600 just because it's old. And all the insurance company needs to total the car is a loss totaling 70% or more of the value of the vehicle. Which means if you have some one vandalizes your vehicle and the total to repair it is more than 70% of the value the insurance company can cash you out, take the car and sell it for scrap. Or in some cases sell it back to you with a salvage title.
So how do you protect yourself (and Honda 600)? Get an appraised value insurance policy. Have your Honda 600 appraised, keep all your receipts, and if you swap for the parts, write yourself a dated note stating the value of the trade. If you do the work then asses the hours total the parts purchased and keep notes. Keeping a journal also helps to keep track of maintenance completed and when.
Take pictures often and make sure the appraiser takes pictures of your car and lists all the work you have done on it.
I had several parts stolen from a 67 Pickup and if I hadn't kept records the truck could have been totaled as replacement parts almost cost 70% of the trucks net worth. Just something to think about. Yes, your Honda 600 is small, but it's value is up there right now for restored or well preserved vehicles.
