replacement fuel pump recommendations?

its been a while since i have gotten to tinker with my poor 600.
this car sat in dry storage (nevada) for approx 15-20 years before i bought it in 2003.
it was refreshed right before i bought it by the previous owner.
it ran well once i got it home and cleaned the carbs and shot it w/ some starter fluid.
it took me some time to get it cleaned up and road worthy.
i drove it for about a year and then let it sit for about a month (rainy season).
when i went back to start it up to let it run for a bit and take it for a spin, it started making a racket from the lower front corner of the driver's side (loud clicking) whe you turned on the key and would crank over fine, but wouldn't start.
that's where the fuel pump is located, correct?
the previous owner had just refurbished the tank and sending unit before i bought it and it ran just fine until then.
i'm affraid sitting for a month let something settle in the pump that gummed it up or broke it.
so I am looking for a replacement pump but none of the GED hopefulls at the local parts stores can even find anything on file for this car (since it's older than 1985).
anyways...so i have found a few candidates:
Parts America (Kragen locally here) carries a couple options (i think) but there's not really good descriptions online.
Carter Universal Elecric Pump - $81.99
BECK/RNLEY Universal Pump - $68.99
Rating on this pump is 1 1/2-3 1/2 PSI
is either of these a suitable replacement for our cars?
Is one a better option than the other?
is there a better recommendation?

---The stock pump is 2 psi,so these will work. When it comes to
pumps,I prefer the stock type. Those prices are high,try for a good
stock one first! riceburner006

Just go to anyplace that sells aftermarket parts for Volkswagens and tell them you want a Facet pump. they're only about 30 bucks and they work fine. If you are dead set on a new original, GOOD LUCK.

The problem you describe may not be the fuel pump, but the metal line going into the tank, or the metal line from the tank to the pump. I had to clean mine out with a piece of speedometer cable because of rust buildup or varnish inside the line.  check it out before you waste money on a new pump.
