rebuilding az600 engine

Hello All;
My name is kenny and I am going to rebuild the top end of my little
honda AZ600 coupe. The compression rings on one cylinder are kapup. So
I will be buying a top end kit from Mike O'Connor. Also I will be
purchasing a rebuilt valve train from Honda wizard on E-bay.I have the
skills and the tools to do this myself.
I have a couple of questions. What has been the overall experience
with the 1mm oversize pistons? Also the top slot for the cam chain
slipper is worn on the cylinder barrel. How critical is this.(outside
of cam chain noise), can it be repaired? This same cylinder barrel
also has 3 stripped 10mm holes(I was just gonna heli-coil them.)Should
I just replace this cylinder barrel? If so, would some one have on a
cylinder barrel.(preferably bored out 1mm allready)for sale?
Any recommendations and opinions would be most appreciated.

I have used Mike O'Conners pistons on two engines and both worked out great.  Follow Mike's directions and you will not fail.  Remember one thing, keep the bore straight, don't let the shop widen the bottom of the cylinders.  This keeps the rings from doing a lot of extra movement and should be the rule when every you install over sized pistons.

Helicoils work just fine, as long as you don't bottom them out too hard.  As far as the worn pin slots, I have repaired them 2 ways.  The first time I had the edge of the slot heli-arced (welded) and re-shaped the slot to fit the pin. The easiest way is to simply use j-b weld to secure them in the correct position. both ways seem to work equally well.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I have order my parts from Mike
O'Connor and will keep everyone upto date, as this is my Xmas break
project.
Another question, with all the high tech oils out there is there any
thing superior to say Gastrol's 20/50w. I live in Denver,CO. to give
you an idea of the conditions I drive in.

I live in bartlesville, Ok.  I use 20w-50 in summer, and 10-30 in winter, to make it easier to start, and to avoid high oil pressures, make sure you warm up the engine before getting the rpm's too high.. oil pressure can run 60psi when cold, even though runs about 4psi when hot. It could be hard on the oil pump....I have lots of spare parts, but usually remain silent since everybody seems to be finding what they need,  Good luck, and be sure to build everything as perfect as possible.  these engines need all the attention they can get.
