no original honda filters anywhere. so I installed a 3" filter cone to the carb boot. runs a lot stronger but is louder. 4,000 rpm is the magic number where intake and exhaust waves are equal.any members have same experiance ? Bob from L.I.

I was thinking of doing about the same thing except I was going to
keep the air filter box attached and add the cone filter to the the
air intake tube to keep the noise down

Bob;
If you still have your old air filter I have used 1/2 in.
thick foam rubber and pulled the paper off replacing it with the foam rubber.  Works great, and you are holding up the back end of your carb.  Otherwise the vibration will crack the intake manifold.
