HONDA AZ600

[fedweezee]

I bought a 72 az600 for $300 for parts with an older rebuilt engine
that runs great and drives and has rollover damage on the front
driverside. i bought it with no title but when i decided to go thru the
car after i got it home to clean out the big amount of trash inside of
it i found the original 1972 california title signed buy the owner and
the credit union. also found 2 unused original air filters, 2 unused
oilfilters and barely used brake pads :) i feel like i struck gold...
anyways i dont know what to do, i kinda want to get rid of it but i
dont have a title (car is titled in washington state and has not been
registered since 1994) from what i know cars that have not been
registered in washington for over 7 years fall off the system and dont
exist. i was wondering if i could just use the california title that i
found in the car and sell it or what??? i thought about parting it and
cutting it up and scrapping it but my heart wont let me since these
cars are soo rare, it would be a shame. so basicly what im asking is
anyone have any ideas what i should do???

You should bring it to New Jersey and sell it to me!  I dont car about title problems too much if you would seriously get it here, I will sort it out somehow if you dont kill me on the price!

California DMV, will title your vehicle with the signed title and your sales agreement if the owner is the same as on the title.  If you don't have a sales agreement, down load one from the DMV site.   Then you can register or sell the vehicle.  If they ask you the value of the vehicle don't say it's for parts.  And, there is no such thing as it has to have a dollar pass between the two parties.  But don't fall for the question "How much will it be worth when you have it all restored?" DMV is trying to collect higher registration fees and if you state a higher value they can assess a higher fee.  DMV is a taxing agency of the state, not your friend.

so its possible to use the original california title when it is
titled in washington state??? well i guess it dont matter since the
car has fallen off the DMV records.... when i bought my n600 it had
been sitting and not registered since 1991 and when i went down to
change the title they said the car did not exist and that they had to
re-enter it into the system and it would take two days. the photo
copied my title and sent it to olympia then after two days i was able
to transfer the title.

Hi Bill,
 By “sales agreement” do you mean a bill of sale? This is my situation as I have signed pink slip but no bill of sale.

If you have a bill of sale for your car,  take it along with the title from CA to your local DMV.  They will work with you to get a title and registration for your car.  If you don't have a bill of sale,  create one.  The main thing the DMV will be looking for is that the car is not considered stolen.  If the car has not stolen or sought after in connection with a crime,  you should not have any problem.

Go to your DMV web site and down load a sales agreement or statement of facts and get the person you purchased it from to sign it.
Normally it's just a statement of sold as is for $$$.

I have to disagree, as there are only two things keeping your engine cool, air and oil.  As the cylinders do not have a significant amount of oil around them, air becomes the prominent source of cooling.
The shrouds not only direct air around the cylinders they allow the fan to create a forced air duct past the fins when the car is standing still.   I do agree that at 65 down the freeway cooling is at it's best.  But at slower speeds the fan pulls more air past the fins with the shrouds in place than with out them.   Also, the fins create radiated heat and the shrouds act as a deflector keeping the heat away from wires and cables.

I agree with your comment and would add this.  The Honda 600 engine works harder to get the car moving than almost any car on the road, that means a lot of full throttle high load operation.  Unlike a motorcycle which attains high speeds very quickly and then cruises the "duty cycle" of the 600 is very high.  Also, when sitting and idling in traffic the fan is very important as the restricted space around the engine and the hood reduces the opportunity for the hot air around the engine to rise and carry the heat away.  The shrouds work with the cooling fan to maintain good airflow. A 600 cc motorcycle engine is open to the air and the heated air easily rises and is replaced by cooler air.  Not so with the N/Z 600.  Use the shrouds!!!!!!!!

I am working on the shrouds now and think I can get the grommets  locally.  The info was most helpful.  Have people here this weekend so wont get to it until Monday night.  cant hardly wait to get it back on the road..
