Hi Cotton;
    You really have to think safety here.
Even some of the tank sealers are susceptible to the new alcohol mix we are buying at the pump.   I know there are fiberglass gas tanks out there, but I never had much faith in the at home mix if fiberglass.  Even JB weld is a good product, but you really have to have the surface super clean for it to work successfully.   Or, your asking for more problems.  The only product I have had any sustained performance is the stuff from Hirsch Automotive.
www.hirschauto.com   or call them at XXX-XXX-XXXX and talk to them about your problem.  I had a tank that was rusted and had some pin holes in the bottom and top.  The problem is that the tank at that stage is so thin nothing will save it short of replacing the metal.  But, I tried some of the Hirsch sealer and it did the trick.
I used a foil tape to give a base for the sealer to fill to and sealed it twice to make sure it was tight.  Drove it for a few years before selling it and no problems and no leaks.
    Cotton, I have a sign on my garage wall, it reads; "READ THE INSTRUCTIONS - and follow them".   Many times I look at that sign, and it knocks me back to reality.  Because after working on something for years we like to take short cuts and they normally get us in trouble.   So, please be safe.

Just got back from a pretty good test drive.  Ran sweet up to 60mph and that was all the half decent  hi-way I had.  Checked for leaks and found none but only had about 3 gal. of gas in it.  I wouldn't have trusted fiber glass if holes had been on the bottom.  For the JB I used 80 grit sand paper to clean and rough it up, to give it sumpin to bite to.  Will keep a close look at it every time I add some gas, a couple gallons at a time.
    P.S.   Anyone reading this far that has two 5/8 rear wheel cylinder kits,
send me a total delivered price and your mail address and I'll send you a money order for them.
    Thanks Bill, Tom, Dale, Dennis and all you guys that have been so much help.

Just a follow up to what Bill was saying, The Eastwood company also sells a kit to restore the inside of a gas tank (in the way of rust).  I have used this kit on my 57 BMW Isetta tank and I'm satisfied.  But when it came to the "larger than pin holes" I had in the tank, I used their product called Ray Crete.  It was under $10.  Like JB Weld it was a compound, and so far, so good.

The beauty of living out here in the boon docks  Is the piece and quiet.
  When I say I looped the town, that's less than a mile.
The next town is about 8,000 population 10 miles away and I call it a mail order town.  Every time I need sumpin it has to be ordered, usually top price plus shipping.  If you are in a hurry, then you make do.  I'm too cotton picking old  to be spending a lot of time waiting. But it seems like I am always doing that anyhow.  But hooray, the little darling is running just fine right now.
    Guess sumpin is fixin to go wrong again......

I live in a little town called South Bend. It is on the Clear Fork of the Brazos river.  The confluence is down stream a half mile.  It is about 10 miles from  Graham, Texas.  Caught some big catfish when I was still able to trotline but got to where I couldn't make it up and down the banks.
    It's just a hoot and a holler from Possum Kingdom Lake.
