Well gents, the 1983 Civic MC works, although it was much work to put in. The line nuts on the stock MC are on top for a reason, very little clearance for brake lines on either side. You can bend the rear brake line to fit (if original I would change), but need to get 40" line (6.99) to mount from front of MC to brake booster. Also need to shave flange a bit in order to mount it in the fire wall. Next, you need to re-drill the hole to mount the MC as they are about 1/4" to wide. I even double flared the lines while on the car with my 9.99 Harbor Freight Tool double flare kit, but I would have bought a better one if I knew how cheap this one was. The 83 MC uses standard Japanese car nuts and just used the 2 that came with it.
So... if I was going to do it all over again, I would have listened to Mike and Miles and not done it and just rebuilt the old MC. This is the route I would recommend for everyone unless you are a broke.
The MC only cost me 10.00 with 10.00 shipping off ebay, 6.99 for the brake line, and 9.99 for the flare kit.
If you are handy, not so much of a job, but if not, rebuild the old one!
In my quest's for an elusive MC I have found that a Nissan Sentra and Some Toyota Corolla's will fit, but all mount the line nut on the side of the MC and will have to re-drill holes and or enlarge flange, no direct bolt in.
