Starter Motor

How available are starters for the 600 coupe? I think I may need one. My battery is fully charged, all lights come on, and I can push start the car, but when I turn the ignition to start,nothing!
Any suggestions?

there is one on ebay now but seems a bit high in price.

but I am sure someone here can help you.  maybe some things to try first.  I know you can get the brushes on ebay for a good price and rebuild it your self if the brushes are the problem.

im not a guru on these cars but ive had the same problem on different cars ive had. When the starter doesnt work at all but the lights come on, its usually a loose battery connection . It still looks tight but it it gets corrosion between the terminal and the cable or possibly a ground problem. When its the starter it usually turns over slower. Hope this helps. its cheaper than a starter motor. Tim

I would start with the basics, do you have voltage on the trigger wire (small wire)on the solenoid when turning the ignition to the start position? It may be easier with a second person to turn the ignition for you while you check for voltage.

Take the sparkplug wires off and put the car in neutral!!! Take the spade connector off, and with a heavy screwdriver, short it across the spade, and the hot terminal.  If it cranks the starter is fine, its most likely the ignition switch.  If nothing, the solinoid or brushes may be bad (solinoid most likely).

The answer Bruce Dewing gave is what happens most.  And there are a few fixes I have found effective for the ignition switch.  First you can check it by doing the following; If the rubber cover is still there push on the back side of the ignition switch and try turning the key.  If it starts then the bakelite plate on the back side is lose.
You said you can start it by pushing the car, so I am assuming the switch is plugged in, but if not check the wires.
 To fix the switch, unplug the switch (note right down where each plug connects as they are not the same color) pull the black rubber cover back on the wires and unscrew the two screws (they have flat blade screw driver heads).  Once out of the car place it in a vice (use something between the bottom of the vice and the switch) then look at the plate and note how loose it is.  I like to use a small set of vice grips to hold the plate down while tapping the three indentations holding it into the housing.  Don't hit it hard, just enough to push the metal against the plate so it is holding tight.
If that is not the problem, then remove the negative battery cable, l ift the car (place it on jack stands) and pull the starter motor.  With it outside of the car you can attach jumper cables to the housing (negative) and the positive side to the battery lead and connect the other ends to their respective battery leads.  Then touch a flat blade screw driver between the battery lead and the small tab where the black W/yellow stripe wire was connected.  If the starter turns, how much?  If not, or it is slow (as already suggested) get it rebuilt.  Caution - if you are getting it rebuilt tell the shop not to change out the bendix, they all try and use a Datsun bendix and it has the wrong gear on it and won't work.  If you don't know where to take it to be rebuilt, ask a NAPA store where they have their starters rebuilt and take it there.  If the bendix needs to be rebuilt there is a company Marks One in Los Angeles California that will rebuild it for about $20.00.  Get it rebuilt, because unless the gear is shot (teeth broken off) then it is the best part.
Tim is also correct, but it normally happens that the battery connection is one of the bolt on clamps and where the wire is bolted on, there is corrosion.  Unbolt it and wire brush everything to make it clean.  Then bolt it back together.

I found the problem with the starter. One of the wires on the solenoid had come off. She started right up!
