Dual Carbs/ Lower rear end

Post by minidrum69 »

Any one know where I can source some dual carbs? Also, how would I go
about lowering the rear end? I've never worked with leaf springs
before. Thanks,

Since the rear axle is above the springs, I guess the easiest way to
lower the rear end would be lowering blocks placed between the axle
and the spring. I don't know if any of the lowering kits that are
available on the market could interchange. If you have access to
chunks of aluminum, you could probably make the lowering blocks at
home. The u-bolts will have to be longer, an auto parts store might
be able to find something that would work. You might try a local
automotive spring manufacturer, they might be able to make new u-
bolts.
Good luck with the dual carb setup, the only setup that I have ever
seen is the one in the Photo section that Robert Lawrey sent in.

I HAD A 50 FORD LOW RIDER.
HAD REAR LEAF SPRINGS I EXPERIMENTED WITH. TRIED LOWERING BLOCKS FIRST. YOU NEED LONGER U-BOLTS. SECOND TRY, TOOK THE SPRINGS APPART AND TOOK THE LOWER 3 SPRINGS OFF, TURNED THEM UPSIDE DOWN, PUT THEM ON TOP OF THE MAIN LEAF, PUT IT BACK TOGETHER WITH THE STOCK U-BOLTS. THEY LOOKED LIKE A JUMP ROPE, BUT GOT IT DOWN.
THIRD TRY I TURNED THE MAIN LEAF UPSIDE DOWN, SO THE SPRING EYE WAS TOWARD THE GROUND AND THE ARCH WAS UP. THIS WAS MY CHEAP WAY OF LOWERING THE CAR. I FINIALLY CHANGED THE WHOLE SUSPENSION TO A MORE MODERN AIR RIDE, 4 BAR SETUP...JUNKMAN/ALLIANCE, NEBR. HOME OF CARHENGE.COM.
