The shop that was making the oil pump rods charged alot for them, I
sold them at cost just so I could buy a couple for myself. All have
been sold and the shop who has the CNC program has moved,
somewhere....
The only thing I am having made now is brass sleeved oil pump bodies
and that is done exclusively for me & Mike O' by the shop that does
our brake cylinders. The sleeves are pressed in and the bodies go
through a washing process 5 times to insure there is no machining
chips. The shop I worked for made up a special Jig to mount the pump
bodies on for machining.
For the brake boosters I have a shop who makes me the pull rod and
the tiny piston for the pilot port. The seals are supplied to me by a
friend who has them made for him in Missouri. The other piston which
holds the 2 seals gets industrial chromed by a local shop.
I had a bunch of brake caliper pistons industrial chromed and they
came out real good. I am rebuilding master cylinders, & wheel cyls.
Ideally the oil pump rods should be aluminum and then sleeved like
the originals. Gonna check on having the pump pistons made next.
The fastest engines I ever built had stock size USED pistons with NEW
rings, shave head .015". I don't know why, maybe less resistance,
more clearance from skirt to wall.
