engine id numbers
Re: engine id numbers
With the engine in the car as you are sitting in the car facing
forward the engine number is on a raised rectangular area on the left
side to the left of the fan shroud next to the primary drive. It
usually fills with grease and needs cleaned out to see the numbers.

Re: engine id numbers
N600E-10...... early sedan no synchromesh
N600E-15...... later sedans with synchromesh
N600E-25...... all coupes (American)
Euro coupes have non synch as I recall - at least the one I drove
from Germany to Isle of Man in 1987 seemed a bit different.

Re: engine id numbers
Well Kevin;
Your engine number says the car it came from was built in December of 1971,
the Car's chassis number or (VIN) was AZXXX-XXX-XXXX. Unless the car is
still around. What does that say? Well there were a number of changes that
occurred at the beginning of 1972. Outwardly it is the rear bumper, the
brake lights had a circular pattern where the 1972 had a more squared look
to the defuser pattern.

Re: engine id numbers
Thanks for the info Bill and Miles.
my vin is AZXXX-XXX-XXXX.
Does that mean this engine is NOT the original one?
Thanks again
