The 1970 N600 I got last year started up and ran pretty well today.
The carb was shot so I got a rebuilt carb and it runs great.
Needed to play with the advance and use some chalk so I could see the
timing mark on the crankshaft pully.
Runs and idles well. The fuel pump had a bad connection so I decided to
pull it out.
When I did the plastic nipple for the inlet broke off. I used JB Weld to
fix it.
I'll test it either tomorrow or next week and see if it's leaking.
When I ran it today it was just using a funnel to pour gas into the carb.
The brakes are shot. Not sure if it's the seals or a leak at only one
wheel. Need to examine all of them.
Since the car was completely jacked up, I ran through the gear box. Fun to
see those front wheels move for the first time!
Car hasn't been registered since 1989 and I've never driven a N600 so this
is really a treat.
I can see I need a few things:
--oil filter
--fuel filter (probably just get generic "in-line" type from a local auto
parts supply store
Just wanted to report....another happy enthusiast! Can't wait to drive her!!!

It's alive!
After a few intensive nights work my little car has once again come
to life! Took my little honda for a short drive down the street after
having started and checked the engine the previous evening. Still
lots of things to do before it is up to vehicle test standards. Only
put a drop of fuel in the tank to test and found that once the system
was primed it did'nt leave much. Found this out when it spluttered to
a hault down the road! Filled up again and off for another run!
Main problems are 1. reverse gear does not fully engage and grinds a
bit. 2. there's an oil leak from the clutch housing which I'm
guessing is the internal oil seal. 3. lower Ball joints need
tightening and the wheels need aligning.
Apart from that the car is ready for the road. Light all work well
and bright. Interior is coming together and will be ongoing as I
drive the car.
No photo updates on the website yet but I'm working on it. I also
intend to get a Mpeg video clip of the car running too.
Great stuff!!
