Dash Warp

Post by Steve »

Most dash tops on sedans are warped up & down or twisted. How will a
dash cap compensate for warpage? I had a friend who said he could CNC
a dashtop out of wood. It's a hard thing to hit your head on but
would be a good base for a dash cap on a sedan. Otherwise there's a
place in LA that can foam inject for aprox. $500.00 per dash.
Expensive, but looks like original - have seen it done on Honda
S800's.

Well Miles, I guess if your dash is that messed up then it would be better
to pull it and start over. I know that the plastic structure behind the
dash is some times broken up from age and heat. But the warpage in the
front will be there after the new cap is in place if nothing is done to
correct it. The Dash-Cap uses the old dash as a backing when it's glued in
place. It's easy and looks like the original if all the directions are
followed.
