Are these tires DOT approved? How wide of rim does ITP recommend? What
is the tire compound like? (average passenger car tire, sticky
gumball, high mileage truck tire, etc?)

These are DOT approved. Load range B...675 Lbs. max load each at 30 psi...Tread surface consistency feels very similar to the Kumho Power Stars that are on my little 1970 N600. These are brand new tires...NEVER mounted...
They measure 7 inches across the bead surfaces, (outside to outside) So, I guess a rim width of 6 to 8 inches would probably be just right, as I can squeeze it down to 6 and stretch it past 8. attatched is a picture so you can check 'em out!!!
