After further inspection of my exhaust system re: fumes in car while moving,
there are indeed leaks coming from several places. I was wondering what are
the choices at this point. I would like to put in all new from the heat exchanger
back. Has anyone been to a franchise muffler shop and been successful in
rebuilding the system?

Mike,
Are the leaks at joints, or holes in the pipe somewhere?
Write Mike O'Connor at TMOC1990@... and ask him about a muffler, and
possibly other exhaust parts.
The connection circled in the attached picture (at the front end of the
tailpipe) is a spot that I personally found tricky to "get right". There
was a very thin copper gasket that is not shown in the picture as well.

Actually, the first piece of exaust system is a big washer, vollowed by the copper clad doughnut then the flared pipe, all held in with the retainer and two bolts.

Big washer? I don't remember that! Oh well. I see it here in the attached diagram though. I can only assume I have one in there - I am NOT taking that darn thing apart to check!

Everyone of my coupes sucked in exhaust fumes (maybe 20 cars). The
shape of the coupe along with a leaky spare tire lid and/or hatch
back seal will just about kill you ! Just for an easy test, get the
blue masking tape used for painting and tape over the spare tire lid
then drive it. Still leaks? then tape around the hatch and drive it.
Make sure the tail pipe exits past the bottom of the car. No tail
pipe? better get one made.
You can remake your exhaust prior to the muffler and leave out the 2
silencers and leave out the silencer in the tail pipe and not notice
any performance loss.
