Re: Air Conditioning
All Honda 600's, both sedans and coupes came from the factory with 2-60
air conditioning!! ... any other effort is futile!!
( 2 windows open @ 60 mph!!! )

Re: Air Conditioning
Do you think a Honda 600 would actually still move forward with
additional drag of an A/C compressor? Plus there is no place to mount
the pump around the engine area.
I had always fancied installing a home air conditioner (window mount)
in the trunk of a sedan. It's 110 volt but these days voltage
inverters are pretty cheap.

Maybe the compressor guts can be converted to Honda use...

Re: Air Conditioning
The reason I asked, is because I have seen units that are completely self contained and mount under the dash for old hotrods, and was just wondering if there were anything like that for the 600.

Do they have internal compressors, or are they 'swamp coolers'.>The reason I asked, is because I have seen units that are

Very good question about compressors or swamp coolers.
I can't imagine one that would work with a compressor,but I do
have a swamp cooler type on my VW bus and it runs only off the
battery.
We also have a 9 gallon tank in the back and an electric pump that is
all hooked up with the cooler and all runs off the battery,
So far no problems, and no it doesn't run the battery down either,.
The only problem with swamp cooling is you do need a *dry heat*
conditions for it to work efectively.
IF your in part of the country with lots of humid weather the
2-60 air conditioning is the way to go.
If my hubby ever gets my 600 working again, (which is a matter of
working on it) I am considering a smaller version of what I have on
my bus.

Re: Air Conditioning
They have internal compressors, the only thing you have to really install is the condenser, but there again is the issue of having room.

I think I found a solution to the A/C questions for the 600, check out
www.vintageair.com , go to cataloge, and then to Mini Slimline Unit, I
think the dimentions will work for the honda. It is a complete unit,
condensor is inside the unit and has a drain kit with it, Dimensions
are approx. 20" wide, 5 1/4" tall, and 12" deep.
