Just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Matt and I just purchased
a 1972 N600 last night with 42,000 miles on it.
I currently own a 1989 Honda Civic that I have been working on for the
last 5 months. My goal is to have a car with super gas mileage. I
was toying with the idea of buying a N600 to convert to an electrical
car. I figured with it's small body and light frame it would be an
easy candidate.
And then I realized that with so few of these things around I would be
better off getting one and restoring it. Besides, I work from home
and who needs an electric car when I have a bicycle?
So I will be receiving my car in a few weeks (it needs to be shipped
from chicago to Salt Lake City, UT where I live). The previous owner
said that it was rolled on it's side back in 1991 by some neighborhood
kinds. As a result the windshield is cracked and the driver's door
has a few dents in it. he also said that the hood has a small dent
because of this offense.
How difficult is it going to be to find a replacement windshield?
What about a door? I'm trying to determine if I would be better off
with a new door or with fixing the existing one.
I would ask more questions but I'm afraid of being the new broken
record on this group. I'll search the old posts before I start asking
the same old questions again.
I won't know too much else about the car until it gets here.
Any tips and insight would be much appreciated.

If you look back a few posts you'll find a guy in seattle who has a windshield he is willing to give away for free. Also try BandB Automotive in Washougal Washington. They should have the parts you're looking for from salvage.

I saw the car on eBay. Looked like it was a good starting point for a driver. I am curious, how much is shipping going to run? I have passed a few up due to that unknown.
On the parts you need, go back thru the messages in the archives. You will gain a ton of knowledge on replacement parts as well as who has parts. I am sure that someone will respond to you that will have everything you need. This group is absolutely fantastic when it comes to helping.
One thing I ran across was a search string for eBay. It turns up more 600 stuff than anything else I have tried. You will need to copy the entire string into the eBay search parameter box (and once you have searched, save it into your favorites). It's pretty long to get rid of motorcycle stuff and some 600 stuff turns up at the stores are in the bottom. I still can't get it to show Tim Mings stuff. Don't know why.

When you are working on your car, don't throw anything away. Most everything can be fixed. be especially careful on gaskets. Just treat your used parts like gold (they are still good).
As long as your car has been sitting, you should first drain the gas tank, change the oil and filter (try the Honda dealer for the filters), new fuel filter, bleed the brakes, possibly clean the carb, new plugs, clean the points. It will probably start right up. Check your gas hoses for rot.
If anyone can better my searches, please help.

The car is going to run me around $875 to ship. A friend of mine is
going to check it out tomorrow to try to get it started. If he can
get it started it will only cost $725 to ship. The company I'm using
to ship is about $200 cheaper than the competition. (check out

It was a tough call paying this much for shipping. I may have won the
car for $760 on ebay but I'll really end up spending around $1600 on
it due to shipping. Considering the alternative (which is not owning
a n600) I think it's worth it.
I read on a website not too long ago that there are only a handful of
600s in the entire state of Utah (where I live) so I imagine parts
will not be very abundant. Looks like my primary car will be in for
some long road trips.
Just curious, but Honda's website (estore.honda.com) said that they
still offer parts for these cars. Is that true?

Congratulations on your new vehicle. You may find a parts vehicle closer
than you think. Send me your vehicles chassis, engine and date of
manufacture numbers and I will send you a list. I also have pictures of
doors and fenders for a sedan.

A search string on eBay is much easier if you combine your negatives
(ignores, or what NOT to see) by a comma and no spaces. an example
follows;
honda 600 -(VT,f4i,CBR1000RR,CBR600F,GSXR,HURRICANE,929,FSC600,SUZUKI)
Don't put any spaces in the ignore string or it will ignore anything
with a space in it(EVERYTHING), and give you no hits at all. Also, the
search engine ignores the difference between upper and lower case
letters, so it's not necessary to capitalize.

That guy with the free windshield was for a Coupe, won't fit the
sedan. B&B Automotive sold a new windshield to Walter Dimmock years
ago and it may have been their last one, but you can try. B&B is at
XXX-XXX-XXXX.
I ordered a new one from a glass company. In case anyone else is
lucky to find one this way the NAGS part number is FCW313 for Sedan,
and FCW312 for a Coupe NAGS is National Auto Glass something and FCW
is Foreign Car Windshield. I paid $350 for the new sedan glass and
they accidentally sold me a sedan one before that for $250 which I
later sold at cost to a guy in Lompoc Ca.
