New crankshafts may be available

Post by dawn_and_darrian »

I have been in talks with racing shops for the past few days that custom
produce performance crankshafts. I asked if it is possible to reproduce a
n600 crankshaft. The reply is that it would cost $590 for a 4-cylinder
crankshaft to be reproduced and $690 for a 6-cylinder crankshaft to be
reproduced. I have since replied asking how much it would be for a
2-cylinder crankshaft to be reproduced.
I may just call them soon if they do not reply shortly.
My questions:
is it the entire crankshaft assembly that should be changed, or simply the
crankshaft itself?
Would anyone here be interested in a newly produced crankshaft for this
price?
Does anyone have a spare crankshaft laying around that might be able to be
used as a template for this company?

Unforunately it won't happen.  Looks like it's going to cost MUCH more than we thought to have it done right.  Looks like Richard was correct on this one.  Perhaps it's just better to buy them from Mike O'Connor.

American Honda told me 3 years ago that I bought the last one they
had. My cost was $1100.00 with a retail price of $1600.00. When I
used to buy my parts from an outfit in LA, they accidentally sent me
a new crank, I sent it back because it was going to cost me $248.00.
I remember buying my very first crank for my very first AZ600 back
in 1979, it was $220.00 retail at Don Lucas BMW/Honda.
