I'm trying to determine if reapolstering my carpet is better than getting a
carpet kit. This weekend I tried to make my own carpet and I gave up after
my first set didn't look too pretty.
Has anyone taken their sedan or coupe to an apolstery shop and had them
reapolster the carpet for you? What did it cost? How was the quality?
Has anyone reapolstered their carpet? What did it cost?

You can get the material and cut it to fit. The front carpet is very
tricky as nearto the shifter it is *gathered* and from the factory
is *formed* with heat by the plastic backing. You can then take them
to an upholstery shop and have them *bound* on the edges so they
won't unravel.
If you buy a carpet kit from Mike the front set is 5 pieces like a
coupe and the rear set is one piece like the original. Those kits
come with foam backing and are *fat* not *phat* like in bitchin' but
fat like too tall and the last set I ripped the foam off so I could
shift and gas.
Your under padding may be shot, so you will need some new stuff. The
original is also sound deadening.
