4x120 for Z360 Hardtop
I imagine that this question should equally applicable for all the
Honda twins, inspite of Honda's model variations over the years.
My Z360 Hardtop (water-cooled) features drum-brakes all around & the
same 10x4 wheels & unusual stud pattern as the rest of the twins.
Obviously Disc brakes are always desirable, & as most of the of the
later japanese mini's, & later variants of the Original Mini were
fitted with 12inch wheels, added to the interesting fact that rear
drum linings appear to be shared with the 1st Civics, I am wondering
how feasible it would be to convert my Z to the 4x120 stud pattern,
wheels & brakes of an early 1st gen Civic.
Obviously this would require lower profile tyres than the Civic, but
these should be available, & I have noted that the earliest Civic's
did not feature a brake booster, unlike the 600's. Which should
simplify things for a 360 without one.
Obviously I still may go searching for 600 frt discs, hubs &
calipers, but these are not exactly common anymore, used a booster
and low profile tyres are tempting. 4x100 may also be more
practical/versatile in terms of parts availability, but early Civic
parts shouldn't be hard to get & should look very subtle with the
original hub-caps.
Anyone have any comparisons for wheel bearing sizes, rear spindle &
driveshaft splines between the two?, as I haven't pulled the the Z
frt hubs apart yet & don't have a Civic for reference...
If I'm extremely lucky the Rear drum might even bolt straight up.
Starting from Drums the Frt is obviously going to get complicated,
requiring hubs which fit the bearings & the driveshaft splines,
calipers & a caliper mtg brkt.
